The Department of Micro-projects, in association with Raunak Helping Hands Foundation, conducted a session on the importance of menstrual hygiene. Our team talked to a group of young girls and women, about the various myths surrounding periods, the issues faced by them in their menstrual cycles and the health problems they may face if proper hygiene and nutrition is not maintained. Special efforts were made to ensure that the information was conveyed clearly till no doubts persisted. At the end, toffees and sanitary napkins were distributed.
In a country like India, where myths and superstitions are placed on a higher pedestal, women continue to suffer due to lack of awareness. All of us at Enactus Hansraj strive towards making a healthy, stigma-free world by creating dialogue on such sensitive issues. The fact that these women took a keen interest and openly interacted with us, means that we have successfully taken another step in this direction.
